Marshall O'Neal Jr., 72, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away December 18, 2016 at VNA Hospice House.
He was born September 8, 1944 to the late Marshall and Ola Mae O'Neal in Key West, FL. He was raised in Vero Beach where he attended school before enlisting in the military. He served 13 years in the Marine Corps which included 2 tours in Vietnam. As a civilian, he worked as a desk sergeant with the Indian River Sheriff Department and later worked as a ranch hand at Jimmy's Tree Service horse ranch.
Mr. O'Neal attended Kings Baptist Church, Vero Beach and was an avid bowler. He was a devout family man and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.
He leaves his memories to be cherished by his children, Shelly (Shane) Averill of Vero Beach, Jason (Amy) Catron of Vero Beach, Robin Blowers of Vero Beach, Katrina Diller of Bethlehem, NH and Danicia O'Neal of Louisville, KY; brothers, John, James, Raymond and Frank O'Neal all of Vero Beach; sister, Dorothy O'Neal of Vero Beach; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Barbara O'Neal and his sister Mildred Chilson.
A gathering of friends and family will be held 4-6 pm, Friday, December 30, 2016 followed by a 6pm memorial service at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home.
