Martin R. Corcoran, 85, of Vero Beach died Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Indian River Medical Center.

Mr. Corcoran was born June 20, 1926 in Chicago, IL and has been a resident of Vero Beach since 1988, coming from Chicago.

He served during WWII in the United States Army as a member of the 11th Airborne as a paratrooper in Japan and the Phillippines.

Martin was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was a parishioner at Saint Helen Catholic Church.

Prior to his retirement he worked as an independent union truck driver for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Rita M. Corcoran; daughters, Catherine A. Kadlec of Mercerville, NJ and Mary T. Corcoran of San Antonio, TX; son, Richard P. Corcoran of Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Dorothy R. Laurence of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services: A visitation will be held from 4-6PM with a prayer service starting at 5:30PM on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A funeral Mass will be held at 2PM on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Saint Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.
