Mary Louise Davies, 88, passed away peacefully with her two daughters by her side on November 2, 2012 in Palm Coast, FL. Born on the 4th of July, 1924, in Philadelphia, Mary Lou graduated from Little Flower High School and was awarded her nursing degree at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia. In 1946, she married Walter Davies and moved to Levittown, PA where she pursued her nursing career and raised her family.
After retiring in 1986, Mary Lou relocated to Florida where she spent most of the next 25 years in Vero Beach with her companion, Burton Weil. An extremely active and vivacious senior who pursued her many passions in retirement, Mary Lou enjoyed international travel, volunteer work for charitable organizations, dancing, bowling and playing cards and Scrabble with family and friends. Her love of animals, especially dogs and birds, brought her immense pleasure.
Mary Lou is survived by her two daughters, Mary Lou Fruhwirth and Peggy Vail, her six grandchildren, Charlotte Ann (Matt) Souder, Dennis (Rene) Fruhwirth, Keith (Stephanie) Watson, Mike (Melanie) Fruhwirth, Leigh Ann (Danny) Watson and Thomas Vail, many nieces and nephews as well as eight great-grandchildren. Mary Lou is preceded in death by husband Walter and daughter Charlotte Watson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
