Mary Elizabeth Harian passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 9, 2017 at VNA Hospice House, in Vero Beach, Florida.

Born Mary Lupico in 1925, in Cleveland, Ohio, she grew up in Wellington, Ohio. After graduating from Wellington High School, Mary moved to Cleveland, where she attended the John Huntington Institute and The Cleveland Institute of Art, and worked for the US Department of the Navy and the Veterans Administration.

Cleveland is also where she met her husband, Joseph M. Harian, and after their marriage in 1952, they moved to Haverhill, Massachusetts, Joseph's home town, where their five children were born. Later, Mary and family lived in Lynnfield MA, Whitefish Bay WI, Kokomo IN, and since 1989 in Vero Beach, FL.

In all of her homes, Mary's interest in art continued, and she was involved with many volunteer activities, most recently at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. She was active with her husband in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. They enjoyed boating and belonged to the Vero Beach Power Squadron.

Mary is survived by her husband Joseph and her five children: Victoria Strella (Paul), Lydia Collins (Paul), Joe Harian (Wendy), Bill Harian (Amy), Tom Harian; seven grandchildren: Brian Fitzgerald, Mark and Joey Strella, Max and Molly Harian, Dean and Burke Harian; and sisters Sarena Welch and Janet Bond.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach
