Mary Zajicek, 93, of Venice, Fla., passed away April 4, 2015. Mary also claimed Vero Beach/Ft. Pierce, Fla. as her residence of choice since retirement in 1981. Since 2012, she resided at Jacaranda Trace in Venice, until her peaceful passing at Tidewell Hospice in the Plantation CC Community.
Born & educated in Binghamton, N.Y., Mary's summer residence was Forest Lake, Pa. At Broome County College, Mary majored in Business & Management w/ specialties in Administrative Secretarial Procedures.
An Honor student in school, Mary excelled in positions & quickly became Administrative Secretary to the President of Bankers Trust & also Corporate Secretary. She retained the same position w/Deutsche Bank after the merger. Additionally, Mary was published in the 10th Edition of Who's Who of American Women & the National Library of Poetry - Where Dreams Begin.
Active in all her communities, Mary was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Binghamton & active in the Women's Group. She also was an Officer of the Secretaries Association of New York State.
In Vero Beach, Mary volunteered for 20 years at the Indian River Memorial Hospital & was active in church groups. A regular participant in golf, tennis & biking, Mary's favorite activity was performing in her community's country club musical reviews where she was a "Regular" singer & dancer; family & friends called her an "Actress at Heart". She also was the partner to the instructor of the Vero Arthur Murray Dance Studio at classes & local venues.
Exercise, singing, dancing, theatre, word games & bingo were Mary's activities of choice at Jacaranda Trace. It was only in her last year that Mary no longer was the primary communicator w/family & friends. She was loved for her ability to keep family close thru calls, holiday events & vacation venues.
Predeceased by her husband Louis in 1977, she is survived by her Daughter Linda M. Moore of Venice, Fla.; Son Louis P. Ryan of San Diego, Calif.; his wife, Vivian H. Ryan; Granddaughter, Kimberly A. Black, her husband Ronald E. Black; Grandsons, Robert C. Layne & Brandon L. Ryan; Great Granddaughter, Jenna M. Black; Sisters, Alice Tomas, Helen Halpin & Sister-in-Law, Margaret Zajicek, as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
A Delayed Memorial Service, due to a family illness, has been re-planned for September 11, 2015 at 11:00 at the Multigenerational Family Burial Site Catholic Slovak Cemetery in Binghamton, New York. Family will greet guests directly after the service & for cocktails at the Binghamton Country Club. A Private Memorial Luncheon will be held at 1:00 pm at the club.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to make donations to their local Hospice Organization.
