Michael J. Anderson, 86, of Vero Beach, FL, formally of Haverstraw, NY, passed away on February 5, 2026, at the VNA Hospice House.

Born and raised in Haverstraw in 1939 to Michael A. and Mary M. Anderson (nee Kotulak), he was the youngest of three children. He was pre-deceased by his two sisters, Claire Bicknell and Maureen Mariano. Michael was a proud father to his daughter, Donna M. Anderson, a loving grandfather to his two grandchildren, Sawyer and Grayson, and a caring uncle to several siblings.

In 1957, Michael joined the US Navy where he was a Machinist Mate on the USS Seawolf until 1963. He went on to enjoy a long career in management with Consolidated Edison Utility before retiring. He was also a member of the West Haverstraw Fire Department for more than 50 years where he held every possible ranked position from chauffeur to chief and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at the Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, 1950 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2000 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960, with Father Emmanuel officiating.

A Reception will follow the mass at St. John of The Cross Parish Hall, 7550 26th Street Vero Beach, FL 32966.

Interment with military honors will be held at a later date in Haverstraw, New York.
