Michael McDonald was born in Minneapolis, MN. In 1948 and attended college at The University of New Mexico. When he returned to MN. he met the love of his life, Melissa A. Dawson. They moved to Laguna Beach, CA. in 1981 and were married in 1982.
Mike owned McDonald's Dry Cleaning Equipment and Repair and built up a large clientele base because of his integrity and attention to detail. He was also very involved with the AA program and helped many people who continued to stay in touch with him over the years. When he retired, Mike and Melissa moved to Vero Beach, Fl. Where he was a day trader. While in Vero Beach Mike was diagnosed with COPD. He put up a brave battle but succumbed to the disease on Nov. 8th, 2016 at the VNA Hospice with Melissa at his side.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Melissa and loving daughter Laura Pouliot, grandchildren Stefanie Jo and Joseph Pouilot, his mother Madeleine Dobbelmann, his brother Mark (Cathy) Dobbelmann and nieces Laura and Ruth, his sister Diane (Collin) Becker and nieces Chelsea, Lindsay, and Makensie. His sister Mimi Mathson and nephews Mark (Jenny) and Scott along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceded in death by his father Charles McDonald, step-father Joseph Dobbelmann, brother Kevin Dobbelmann, and niece Jessica Dobbelmann.
