Obituary

Michael Curley Pearce, 76, of Vero Beach, FL, joined the Lord, and Patricia Ann Pearce, the love of his life, for Christmas, having passed on December 24th, 2023.

Mickey was born in Baltimore, MD, on May 6th, 1947, to William & Anna Pearce, and received First Communion at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church. He loved to play baseball, with his parents coaching, and older brother, Joseph. He would romp with friends as a kid in the neighborhoods of Curtis Bay.  Having moved to North Miami, Mickey loved to fish, surf, and even host dances, where he met his future bride Patricia Ann Buck, a champion swimmer who attended Hialeah Senior High School. Mick graduated from North Miami Senior High School on June 8th, 1965.  Not only did Mick and Pat fall in love, but they were married on February 11th, 1967, and would become inseparable, regardless of time and space.

While Patricia finished nursing school, Mick joined the Navy on March 27th, 1967, trained as a Data Processing Technician (DP-2), served on the USS Guadalcanal (LPH-7),  stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and received an Honorable Discharge on November 9th, 1971. They would have a son, Michael, and moved back to North Miami, where Mickey was part of Ironworkers Local 272, working alongside his father Bill and brother Joe. Friends and family were always gathering together, and they were also involved with St. James Catholic Church.

Having moved to Vero Beach around 1980, the two became part of the St. Helen's Catholic Church parish. Trish would play a part in the folk group for Sunday services, singing and playing guitar, while both would take part in the annual Harvest Festival face painting booth, among other activities. They decided to cruise on a sailboat, after Michael graduated from VBHS in 1985, and made many more life-long friends via the boating community. After Trish passed on July 26th, 2013, Mick pined for the day he would catch up to the love of his life. He continued to be active, and had many friends and family to share his love with, but got to spend this Christmas with his true love.

Mick is survived by son Michael & Jacquelyn (Evans) Pearce, granddaughter Krystal (Evans) Heitz; granddaughter Coral Michelle (Pearce) Neal; great grandson Stone Heitz; brother, Deacon Joseph & Joan Pearce of St Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie, FL, nieces Christine (Pearce) Manin, Kimberly (Pearce) Goldman, and nephew Justin Pearce.
