IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Gene
Plyler
January 20, 1962 – July 5, 2022
Michael Gene Plyler, a resident of Sebastian, Florida, formerly from Monroe, North Carolina, passed away at his home on July 5, 2022. He was born at Kimbrough Army Hospital, Fort George Meade in Anne Arundel County Maryland on January 20, 1962.
Michael attended Parkwood High School near the family home in the Roughedge community outside Monroe, North Carolina. After High School he entered a North Carolina pipefitters' apprenticeship and attended classes at Piedmont Community College in Charlotte for his certifications. In 1988, under the sponsorship of the Charlotte Area Plumbers and Pipefitters', Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, the state of North Carolina Department of Labor recognized him as a pipefitter for completion of his apprenticeship. Michael was a lifelong pipefitter, and since July 2012, he was an owning partner and operator at TransCan Mechanical LLC of Florida. He was a member, from April 1997-Mar 2009, of Local Union No. 421 of United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters and in April 2009 transferred his membership to Local Union No. 295 of Daytona Beach, Florida.
From early in life Michael had an admirable talent for math that he further developed to enable a long and successful career in pipefitting. His early career led him to SwissLog-TransLogic where he became an expert at planning and installation of integrated automation solutions for hospitals throughout the US eastern seaboard region and eventually predominately hospitals in Florida. His partner at TransCan stated that Michael was extremely well liked and respected by all, within the trade, with many company competitors and also among all other trades he worked alongside.
Michael was a caring, capable and loving helper throughout his life. He was always available to help or lead a project for others regardless of location.
Michael never saw a cut of meat or fish he could not grill, barbecue or cook into a memorable meal, occasion, and celebration for others. He enjoyed fixing and building anything mechanical from cars, boats, and various kinds of bikes-traditional, motorized, or electric. Throughout his life he was an avid fisherman and boater, sharing and operating multiple types of water craft with family and friends.
He was predeceased in death by his father Rance Paul Plyler; infant son Steven Michael Plyler; and, twin brother Roger Dennis Plyler. He is survived by his mother Sarah Walton Plyler of Vero Beach, Florida; son Christopher Michael Plyler of Cleveland, Georgia; sister Emma Lou Guyette of Waxhaw, North Carolina; brother James Paul Plyler of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and very dear cousin Matilda Gurley of Vero Beach.
Michael is deeply loved and will be forever close to all who knew him, especially his friends and family. His combination of intelligence, humor, smile and easy-going demeanor brought incredible enjoyment to all that were fortunate to be part of his life.
A memorial service for Michael, followed by a reception, will be held at Cox and Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach Florida, at 2PM on Saturday July 30 2022.
