Murray R. Maxon, 81, of Vero Beach, FL and Sackets Harbor, NY died Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

Mr. Maxon was born June 29, 1930 in Sackets Harbor, NY. He had been a winter resident of Vero Beach for 8 years, coming Sackets Harbor, NY.

He served in the United States Air force during the Korean War.

He was the owner of Ontario Place Hotel in Sackets Harbor, NY.

He was a Deacon and an Elder of the United Presbyterian Church in Sackets Harbor, NY.

Mr. Maxon was the treasurer of the Seaway Trail Foundation, a chairman of the Thousand Islands International Council,a member of the Sackets Harbor Historical Society, the Sackets Harbor Masonic Lodge # 135 F.A.M., the General Society of Mayflower Descendents and the Village Trustee of Sackets Harbor.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years Earleen Maxon of Vero Beach, FL and Sackets Harbor, NY; five sons Dr. Tomm (Marsha) Maxon of Watertown, NY, James Maxon of Atlanta, GA, Dr. Jeffrey (Maribel) Maxon of Rochester, NY, John (Aliene) of Vero Beach, FL, Dr. Mark (Lori) Maxon of Fayetteville, NY; daughter Dr. Mary E. Maxon of San Francisco, CA; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be held out of town.
