Obituary

Nancy Joy Shaw of Vero Beach, FL passed on October 30, 2008. She was born in Boston, MA on July 5, 1925 and moved to Indian River County in 1987 from Anandale, VA.
Miss Shaw graduated from Roslindale High School and attended Northern Virginia Community College. During her 43 years of service with New England Telephone and Telegraph, and various other telephone and telegraph systems, she worked for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in San Francisco, CA, replacing local operators who had moved into defense jobs during World II.
Miss Shaw was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, serving as President of the Northern Virginia Council. Miss Shaw was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist, the Scottish Society of the Treasure Coast and Vero Beach Opera.
She was the daughter of the late Florence Enid and Gordon Eugene Shaw and is survived by her sisters Barbara Enid Shaw, with whom she resided, and Cynthia Goring Shaw of Alaska. Her only brother, Gordon Duncan Shaw, formerly of Vero Beach predeceased her as did her sister Priscilla Ann Shaw also of Vero Beach. She is also survived by ten nieces and nephews and other families.
A private memorial service will be held at a later day.
