GERSHKOFF, NORMA (COOMBS)
Norma passed away peacefully in her own home on November 21. She would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call, the kind one can't refuse. Her call was sweetened with the reunion with family and friends. She will now be forever traveling, gardening, watching sporting events, waxing her car, reading and most importantly, advising, to her heart's content. Norma left detailed instructions, as only she could do, for those she left behind. We celebrate her, her life and her immense generosity. She managed the Budget-Rent-A-Car franchise in Rhode Island for many years, then transitioned to Vice President of Fleet Auto Body before retiring.
She married her love, Raymond Gershkoff, in June of 1981 and he preceded her upstairs in 2003. Her father and namesake, Norman Coombs, is also with her now. She will be missed by her loving mother, Lily Coombs, of Vero Beach, her only sister and partner in wine drinking and cheese and cracker festivities, Susan (Sister Sue) Corrigan, her stepchild, Susan Gershkoff, of Lincoln Rhode Island, her nephew, Jason Corrigan, of Port St. Lucie and her nephew, Eric Corrigan, of Green Cove Springs. Luke will greatly miss Aunt Norma's back scratches and trips to Groomingdales. Norma is also survived by her Aunt Ida Farnworth, of Lincoln, Rhode Island and Vero Beach and Ida's late husband, Edward (Joe) Farnworth, as well as two cousins.
A memorial celebration service will be held at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. The family requests expressions of sympathy be made in Norma's name to the Vero Beach Salvation Army at 2655 5th St. S.W., Vero Beach, FL 32962 or www.salvationarmyverobeach.org.
