Norman Clark Reynolds, Jr., 76, of Shorewood, WI, passed away January 6, 2018 with his family by his side.

He was born to the late Norman C. Reynolds and Helene Reynolds (Unterspan) on August 8, 1941 in St. Augustine, FL. Growing up in Bristol, CT he was known as Skip by family and friends. Norman graduated in 1959 from Loomis Chaffee High School in Windsor, CT and received his BS in Biology from Brown University in 1964. He then moved to Minneapolis, MN to pursue his MS in Physical Chemistry at the University of MN, where he met and married Elaine Reynolds (Williams), as well as earned his Doctorate in Medicine in 1972. They relocated to the Milwaukee, WI area in 1975 where they eventually retired and had a seasonal home in Vero Beach, FL.

Dr. Reynolds was a neurologist at Mt. Sinai, Froedtert, and the VA hospitals in Milwaukee, as well as professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He did extensive research specializing in the area of movement disorders, especially Huntington's and Parkinson's diseases, until his retirement in 2010. His Huntington's research contributed to a method of detecting the disease before symptoms manifest, allowing for early treatment. He also served his country as a long-time member of the Minnesota and Wisconsin Army National Guards, retiring a colonel in 2001.

Norman was adamant that science and religion are not mutually exclusive, and was an active and enthusiastic member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Milwaukee, serving on the vestry as a treasurer and warden, then later as chalice bearer and sub-deacon. After retirement, he greatly enjoyed taking ministries classes and participating in the men's fellowship. In 2011, he wrote a novel, under the pseudonym Br. Spike Jonas, that reconciles his interests and beliefs in religion, history, and science titled, "Using A Time Warp To Get it Right: A Dialogue With Disciples."

Norm enjoyed music, reading, and traveling and loved camping, fishing, and hiking in the great outdoors. His favorite places to visit with his family were Door County, WI; The Upper Peninsula of MI; the Moosehead Lake, ME region; Hawaii, Japan, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Ireland.

Norm is survived by his wife Elaine, children, Matthew and Karen Reynolds, and granddaughter Nora, all of the Milwaukee area. He is also survived by his sisters, Meredith Downton, of Cincinnati, OH and Susan Reynolds, of Bristol, CT.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14th, at 11:00 AM CT at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church where he dedicated much of his time in his post-retirement years.
