Paul Emmett of Sebastian, FL died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at Indian River Medical Center.
He was born May 23, 1926 in Poughkeepsie, New York and was a resident of Sebastian for 18 years.
Prior to retirement Paul was a heavy equipment operator for New York Trap Rock. He was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, lifetime member of VFW and the American Legion and was a volunteer clam-shucker for the Sebastian Clam Bake.
Paul is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Emmett, who he met and married in Italy as a soldier during World War II. He is also survived by his 5 children, Paul Emmett of Sebastian, FL; Theresa Burdick of Vero beach, FL; Elizabeth Emmett Brophy of Sebastian, FL; Steven Michael Emmett of Texas; Frank Emmett of Poughkeepsie, New York; 8 grandchildren, who called him Poppy, Mechelle, Ben, Kelly, Kiri, Paul, Mesha, Sara, and ChiChi. He was predeceased by his grandson, Scott.
A service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Seawinds Funeral Home Chapel, Sebastian, FL with military honors by Sebastian River Area Veterans "Honor Guard".
His favorite things in life were feeding his friends and family; fishing and clamming; his garden; and his grandchildrenwho could all peel shrimp and crack crab by the time they could walk.
