Paul G. Shirey, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011. He was born on October 13, 1925 in Reading, PA to the late Leroy C. and Ella Mae Shirey. He joined the Navy at age 17 (1942) where he participated at Normandy and the second wave at Iwo Jima. He joined the Army Air Corps and served until they separated into the Army and Air Force, serving in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic.
He married Barbara Mae Vadeboncoeur and had six sons and three daughters Douglas, Jay, Harold (Dale), Denise, Paul Jr. (P.J.), Rosemary, Tina Marie, David, and Jerome.
He is survived by his wife, 7 children, 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Robert Shirey of Las Vegas, NV and Harold Shirey of Pottstown, PA.
He was predeceased by his sons, Douglas, Paul Jr. and a granddaughter, Nicole.
Paul owned and operated Norwalk Burner Service in Norwalk, CT.
Family will greet friends from 10:30 11:30 am with a Celebration of Pauls Life beginning at 11:30 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be made to Joe's Club of Melbourne.
