Peter DeCastole, 88, of Vero Beach, FL, died Thursday, June 4, 2009 at his home.
Mr. DeCastole was born January 15, 1921, in Potenza, Italy and has been a resident of Vero Beach for the past eighteen and a half years coming from Long Island, New York.
He had been a Detective in the New York City Police Department before working for the State of New York as a Special Investigator. Mr. DeCastole was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Navy.
Survivors include his wife Mary DeCastole of Vero Beach; daughters Lisa Skinnider of Vero Beach, Rosemary Persinger of Dallas, TX, Roberta Gardiner of Lancaster, CA and Irene Crisel of Vero Beach; a brother Vincent DeCastole of West Palm Beach, FL; a sister Rose DOrsi of Missouri; step-daughters Liz Olander of Vero Beach, Virginia Sefcik of New York and Helen Frank of New York; step-son Ted Olander of New York; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by a previous wife Mary Catherine DeCastole.
Services: The family will receive friends 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, Saturday, June 6, 2009 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach with a prayer service at 7 PM. Mr. DeCastole will be transferred to the Donohue-Cecere Funeral Home in Westbury, NY for interment at The Holy Rood Catholic Cemetery in Westbury.
