Peter P. Martin, 85, of Ft. Pierce, Florida passed away June 7, 2017. He was born September 14, 1931 in Trenton, NJ and moved to Ft. Pierce in 2004 coming from Wellington, FL.
He grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Morrisville High School where he played football and served as captain of the football team. Mr. Martin later enlisted in the United States Navy and served during the Korean War. As a civilian, Mr. Martin worked as a high school and Jr. high school teacher. He taught Industrial Arts as well as Graphic Arts and Metallurgy until his retirement in 1991.
Mr. Martin was a devout Catholic. He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach. He loved reading and studying the Bible. His strong faith was an inspiration to many. He was a member of the American Legion Post 40, a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus and enjoyed playing tennis, golf, bocce ball and especially board games with his family.
He leaves his memory to be cherished by his wife of 62 years, Nina Martin; son, Peter (Lisa) Martin of Silver Spring, MD; granddaughter, Tara (Sergio) Contreras Perdomo; grandson, Kevin Martin and granddaughter, Ali Martin. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Peter and Frances Winiarski; his mother, Josephine Martin and brother, Joseph Martin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon, Saturday, June 10, 2017 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 7550 26th St, Vero Beach, FL 32966. Mr. Martin's cremated remains will later be interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
