IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis Ann
Harrell
May 15, 1950 – September 15, 2025
Phyllis Ann Harrell, 75, (formerly of Stuart, FL) passed away on September 15, 2025 in Vero Beach, FL. Phyllis was born in Boca Raton, FL and was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved music, sewing, and people.
She is survived by her five children: Michelle Landreth (Thomas Mumford), Marcy McMahon (George), Kristen Vencel, Jonathon Rhoads (Siedah), and Brittany Rhoads; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; Phyllis is also survived by her former spouse and father of her children, Richard Rhoads,(Carol) as well as her brother, Charles Harrell (Polly) and many extended family members and friends who loved her. Phyllis was preceded in death by her father, Charles Harrell and her mother, Christine Abner, as well as many other relatives whom she dearly loved.
A proud native Floridian who never lived elsewhere, Phyllis loved the sunshine, the beach, and local Florida artists. She always instilled a love for music in her children (especially The Beatles). Her eclectic collection remains a lasting and memorable part of their lives. Phyllis also loved to dance and was a Zumba enthusiast/instructor to local senior citizens for years. Her zest for experiencing life and people is also reflected and carried on in the lives of her children.
A fearlessly devoted advocate for her children, she often referred to herself as "Mama Bear and her cubs." She was always ready to stand with her children and their families as a gentle shoulder to cry on, a strong encourager, and a tender source of unconditional love and support. She loved her family fiercely and always ran to help them.
Phyllis also loved taking care of others in her community. After her time as a Girl Scout leader, she formed and led a chapter she named Angels of Love Charity, Inc. For over twelve years, she and her dear friend and business partner led local students and adult volunteers who provided blankets and layettes for newborn and premature babies in the NICUs of various local hospitals as well as many around and outside of the USA. She also made and donated many blankets to local animal shelters. A talented seamstress, she dedicated much of her life to utilizing her skills to helping those in need.
A Celebration of Life for Phyllis will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025 from 10 am - 12:30 pm at Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home in Stuart, FL. The family would like to request wearing either blue, her favorite color, or yellow for her love of the sunshine.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice or one that assists babies and animals.
