Phyllis Jean O'Brien
September 24, 1944 – May 7, 2025

Phyllis Jean O'Brien, 80, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025. Born on September 24, 1944, in Hackensack, New Jersey, Phyllis moved to Vero Beach in 1958 from Emerson, NJ, and quickly grew roots in the community she would call home for the rest of her life.

A proud graduate of Vero Beach High School, Class of 1962, Phyllis went on to complete her business education at Jones Business College in Jacksonville, FL, in 1963. Over the years, she built a meaningful career in both the medical and financial fields, working for Indian River Memorial Hospital, Indian River Citrus Bank, Dr. Robert Moore, Dr. Ellen Melvin, and Indian River County.

Phyllis was a devoted member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, where her faith and sense of community were important parts of her life.

She is survived by her children, David O'Brien, Jr., Denise D. Woolley and Cheryl L. Owens; her niece, Mary Rose Roberts; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David W. O'Brien; her parents, Rocco and Rose Mazzeo; and her brothers Peter Mazzeo, Joseph Mazzeo, and Robert Mazzeo.

Phyllis will be remembered for her warm heart, her steadfast faith, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends.
