IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ralph M.
Pocchia
June 19, 1929 – November 7, 2022
Ralph M. Pocchia,93 of Vero Beach passed away peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth he is survived by his three children, Michele Fryauff (Steve) of Vero Beach, Ralph A. Pocchia (Kathleen) of Milford, NJ, Patricia Cowley (Duane )of Washington, NJ; eight grandchildren; twelve great –grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He grew up in Brooklyn, NY and was a life-long Dodger fan until the move. He never truly got over the team "abandoning" the fans.
He enjoyed taking the kids to see the Mets play and always had box seats thanks to the company National Cash Register, with whom he was employed with for over 45 years, the majority of the time in Rockefeller Center.
Ralph served in the US Army as a tank commander during the Korean Conflict.
He moved to Vero Beach in 1993 where he begrudgingly cheered for the LA Dodgers and subsequently retired. He did love a good Dodger Dog.
Ralph was an avid tennis player well into his 80's. He then picked up pickleball and played up until 4-5 years ago. He introduced his children to the World's Fair in Queens, Coney Island where they rode The Cyclone and enjoyed Nathan's Hot Dogs.
Ralph was extremely proud of his Italian heritage and loved all things Italian, especially the food. He was full of energy and life, loved his family and they loved him. He always had a Dad joke after telling it, he would be the one to laugh the loudest.
The family would like to acknowledge the care, kindness and respect that VNA Hospice and their staff showed their father.
There will be a private memorial service as were his wishes in New Jersey at a later date.
As Ralph would say, "Who's On First?"
Donations may be made in Ralph's name to VNA Hospice Foundation 1110 35th Lane Vero Beach, FL 32960.
