Ralph Turner, 79, of Vero Beach died Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Indian River Medical Center.
Mr. Turner was born February 24, 1932 in Elyria, OH. He had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1984, coming from Plantation.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War, and was stationed in Guam.
Prior to his retirement he worked as an air traffic controller in Oberlin, OH at the Cleveland Center. Later he was transferred to the Miami Center in 1973. He worked there until his retirement from the FAA in December of 1976.
Ralph was a member of the American Legion Post 39, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and the Air Traffic Controllers Association.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary; sons, Greg (Pauline) Turner of Lake Wales; Gary (Lory) Turner of Vero Beach; daughters, Sharon Turner of Vero Beach; Cindy (Chris) Aprandini of Cocoa; Eileen (Tom) Gill of New Port Richie; Kim (Greg) Sims of Vero Beach; sister, Karen James of Sheffield Lake, OH; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Orie Turner; mother, Alice Turner Wolfe; and brothers, Richard, Thomas and Harry Turner.
Services: A visitation will be held from 5-7PM with a service starting at 7PM on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory. Pastor Doug Vogt will be officiating.
