Richard "Rick" Sherman Bachmann, 78, of Vero Beach, passed away March 6, 2024 after a brief illness.
He is survived by his daughters Krissy DiGiacomo (Vinny) of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Michele Bachmann of Sylvester, Georgia, his Grandson Ryan Ramirez of Minnetonka, Minnesota, his brother Charles Bachmann II (Linda) of Durant, Oklahoma, his former wife Susie Bachmann of Vero Beach, Florida, and many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Lillian Bachmann, his brother Joseph Bachmann, and his infant son, Michael Bachmann.
Rick was born in East Orange, New Jersey on April 23, 1945. His family relocated to Miami, Florida when he was young. Growing up in South Florida made him a lover of the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He attended North Miami High School where he lettered in football and graduated in 1963. After High School, he joined the United States Air Force to train for a position with the military police.
After his military service, he married Susie Rainey and resided in the Miami area and was an active member of the Jaycees. He and his family moved to Vero Beach in 1981. During his time in Vero Beach, he was very generous with his time and volunteered with Little League baseball as an umpire, volunteer Ambulance Squad, and Vero Beach High School Quarterback Club. He continued to pursue his love of fishing and hunting. He was a dedicated father and never met a stranger. He was a lifelong fan of the Miami Dolphins, University of Miami football, and Florida State football. He retired as the Sales Manager of Bonded Floors in Vero Beach in 2009.
Visitation is open to all and will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 3 pm-5 pm at the Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, 1950 20th Street, Vero Beach, Florida. Military Funeral Honors will take place at 4:30 pm.
