Richard (Dick) Drew, 85, of Vero Beach, FL, died Thursday, October 29, 2020.
He was born to the late Henry and Connie Drew on December 1, 1934 in Buffalo, NY. Dick grew up in West Seneca, NY with his sister Mary (John) McKeone, and twin brothers ; the late Hank ( his late wife Sue) and Bill (Geri). Dick graduated from Bishop Timon High School in 1952 and was drafted by the Army where he worked with the Army Corp of Engineers and learned how to build bridges. He married Rosemarie Wickenden of Welland, Ontario Canada in 1955 and raised their family of five children in Buffalo, NY before relocating to Weston, F L in 1986 . They later retired and moved to Vero Beach , FL in 1996 .
Dick was a carpenter by trade and was passionate about building relationships and making a difference in peoples ' lives. Dick had many accolades and accomplishments such as the Project of Special Significance A ward in 1995 for the Kennedy Drawbridge Rehabilitation project in Tampa Bay, Florida whereby he was the Project Manager . However, of his many accomplishments , he was most proud of working with Father Prendergast to design, estimate, and construct the Saint Bonaventure Church in Weston, F L .
Dick was an active member of the Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach; Air Masters Radio Club #2184 in Sebastian F L; and the Flying Kn ights in Hamburg, NY .
Dick is survived by his wife, Rosemarie; children Douglas (Cathy) of Waterford M I ; Deborah Dinse of Eden NY; Richard (Cathy) of Hamburg NY; Ann (Edward) Brown of Eden NY; and Daniel (Jody) of Farmington NY. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seventeen great - grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10: 3 0 AM on Monday, December 28, 2020 at St s . Peter and Paul Church in Hamburg NY with burial immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna NY .
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to " Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo " attention " Henry and Constance Drew Family Foundation " at 726 Exchange Street, Suite 525, Buffalo NY 14210 .
