Richard D. Elliott
Richard Draffen Elliott, EdD passed away on Saturday February 25, 2012 in Vero Beach Florida. Dr. Elliott was 74 years old, he had suffered for almost 20 years with Parkinson's Disease and most recently with pancreatic cancer.
Born in 1937 in the Catskill Mountains of New York State, Dr. Elliott obtained a Bachelors and Masters of Science Degrees from State University College at Oneonta. Following the successful completion of a Doctor of Education at The University of Massachusetts, Dr. Elliott took an appointment as a faculty member at Sturt College of Advanced Education, a teacher training college in Adelaide, South Australia.
Community Association Management was Dr. Elliott's second career. In the late 1970's he moved to Vero Beach and formed a company to provide city management-like services to newly forming homeowner and condominium associations in the State of Florida.
Dr. Elliott is survived by his wife, Therese, a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Shirley Elliott of Ocala, a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Craig Merrill of Vero Beach, two grandchildren, Lee Merrill of Denver and Megan Merrill of Vero Beach, three step children and four step grand children all of Vero Beach.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home.
