Richard Kehoe Friskey, 81 of Sebastian, FL died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL.
He was born August 19, 1927 in Great Neck, NY and was a resident of Sebastian since 1996, coming from Lehigh Acres, FL.
He was a retired patrolman for the Nassau County Police Department and a Postal Carrier for the Roslyn Post Office in NY, and was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight, District Deputy, Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree, State Ceremonial Chairman and Family Activities Director for the State of Florida, VFW, the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and the Elks. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1943-45, US Army from 1945-47 serving 3617QM Truck Co., known as the Red Ball Express.
Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Alexina (Betty) Friskey; brother William (Bill) Friskey; four daughters Catherine (Cathy) Hollifield of Bronson, Alexina (Sandi) Jeffreys of Orlando, FL, Deborah (Debbie) Cernuto of Mt. Sinai, NY, Anne (Annie) Richter of Sebastian, FL; granddaughter Barbara McKenzie of Lehigh Acres, FL; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers Edwin and Bayard Friskey and his daughter Barbara Ellen Friskey.
Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 24 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church followed by military honor burial in Lehigh Acres, FL.
