Obituary

Richard Charles Schwan, 89, of Spanish Lakes Country Club, Ft. Pierce, FL died Thursday, December 25, 2008 at his home.
He was born September 24, 1919 in Dansville, NY and moved to Spanish Lakes Country Club 22 years ago from Williamsburg, VA.
Mr. Schwan had been a Materials Technician for the Virginia Department of Highways prior to his retirement. He was veteran of WW II, serving in the US Navy on the YMS 336 Minesweeper in the Pacific Theatre and a recipient of the Presidential Citation. Mr. Schwan was a member of the Community Church in Vero Beach and an affiliate of the Heisey Glass Museum in Newark, OH.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Leila N. Schwan of Fort Pierce; two step-daughters Terrilee Beal of Vero Beach, FL and Jennifer Hinds of Virginia Beach, VA; two sons James and Barry of Virginia; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his step-son Glenn Murawski.
Service: A memorial celebration will be held 11 AM, Saturday, January 3, 2008 in the Grace Chapel of the Community Church in Vero Beach with military honors by VFW Post 3918. Interment will be in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
