Richard Andrews Snyder, 87, of Vero Beach, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011, at Consulate Health Care Center, Vero Beach. Richard was born September 10, 1923, in Syracuse, NY, and had lived in Vero Beach for the past 22 years, moving here from Long Green, Maryland.
He was a US Navy veteran, having served in combat in World War II in the Atlantic and the Pacific. He graduated from Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut, and Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts. He was retired from the White Rose Paper Company, Baltimore, Maryland, which became Frank Parsons Paper Company. He belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach, where he formerly served as head usher. He was a past president of the Vero Beach chapter of the Amherst Alumni Association. Richard was an avid golfer and a devoted family man.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Pattie Thomas Snyder, of Vero Beach, son, Thomas Andrews Snyder, also of Vero Beach, sister, Polly Snyder Talbott, of Fort Myers, Florida, and twelve nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
