Rita Kade-Griffin, 78, of Vero Beach, FL died Friday, June 27, 2008 at her home.
Mrs. Griffin was born February 4, 1930 in Bronx, NY and moved to Vero Beach in 1981from Mohegan Lake, NY.
She Graduated from Cathedral High School in New York City in 1947 and was a Member of St. Helen Catholic Church and after moving to Isles of Vero became a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church. Mrs. Griffin Retired from the NY Telephone Co. in 1981 after 27 years, having worked in different departments. She Volunteered as a driver to deliver Meals On Wheels, worked in the Humane Society Thrift Shop, Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Gift Shop, Vero Beach Theater Guild, a member of the Columbiettes in Mohegan Lake, NY where Rita lived until 1981 when she moved to Vero Beach where she was a Lady Elk, known as the Kles.
Survivors include her husband of three years Arthur R. Griffin of Vero Beach; two sons Dennis Kade of Shelton, CT and Bruce Kade of Hopewell Junction, NJ; four step-sons James Griffin of Ireland, Glenn Griffin of Titusville, FL, John Griffin of Towanda, PA and Richard Griffin of Red Rock, TX; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Mrs. Griffin was predeceased by her first husband Donald Kade in 2002, whom she wed in 1951.
Services: The family will receive friends 4-7 PM Monday, June 30, 2008 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Mass will be celebrated 10 AM, Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Interment will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
