Rita "Teddy" Carlson, 74, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away Saturday, December, 31, 2016.
She was the daughter of the late F. Bryant and Rita Cocks. She was born July 29, 1945 in Goshen, New York.
Teddy was married to the love of her life Alvin "Whitey" Carlson in 1984. They lived in Monroe, New York and relocated to Florida in 1988.
Teddy was the proud owner of Miss Teddy's Hair Salons. She was the first female barber in Orange County, New York. Teddy was a very successful business women and was loved and respected by many. Family and friends were very important to her, she loved parties and bring everyone together for lots of laughs.
Teddy is survived by her son Eric (Michelle) Carlson; her brothers, Fred (Virgina) Cocks and Thomas (Elizabeth) Cocks; Sister-In-Laws, Laura Cocks and Susan Cocks. Also she is survived by her 5 grandchildren and numerous nicest and nephews that were so much a part of her life.
Teddy was predeceased by her daughter, Lya Salasevicius; sister, Mariam "Mimzie" Provost and brother, Michael Cocks.
A Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 pm Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Inurnment immediately following at Hillcrest Cemetery, Fort Pierce.
In Lieu of flowers, Teddy has requested donations to the VNA and Hospice Foundation or The Humane Society.
