Obituary

Robert W. Andrews, 88, of The Brennity of Vero Beach passed away peacefully on December 18, 2014. Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Diane; his son, John Douglas (Claudia) of Fredericksburg, VA; daughters, Robin Andrews Perros (Adam) of Johannesburg, South Africa and Leslie Andrews Wallace (Joseph) of Potomac, MD; brother, Donald (Ellen) of New Jersey; and six wonderful grandchildren: Jay, Clara, Daniela, Sara, May and Henry. He was predeceased by two of his brothers, William Jr. and Richard.
Bob was a graduate of the New York State Maritime Academy at Ft. Schuyler and received his naval commission upon graduation in 1946. He served as a Merchant Seaman and was subsequently recalled to active duty during the Korean War. He retired from the Naval Reserve as a Commander in 1974. He began his 34 year career as an operations officer with the Central Intelligence Agency in 1952, where he later met and married his wife, and retired honorably in 1985.

Prior to moving to Vero Beach in 2012, Bob and his wife spent 20 years as residents of Queens Cove on North Hutchinson Island. He was a lifelong member of the U.S. Naval Institute and numerous similar naval and American historical organizations. He was a true patriot and friend who will be missed by all whose paths he crossed.

Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family requests donations to VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, Florida 32960.
