Robert Joseph Arter 85, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at his home in Jensen Beach, FL.

Mr.Arter was born April 28, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ and was a resident of Jensen Beach for 20 years coming from Seaside Heights, NJ.

He worked as a Millwright for the American Can Company in Jersey City for 25 years.

Prior to retirement he worked for the Water Authority Company for 20 years in Old Bridge, NJ.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Mr. Arter was a member of the American Legion in Jensen Beach, FL and Seaside Heights, NJ.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Helen; sons, Robert Arter Jr. of South Amboy , NJ and John Arter of Greentown, PA, daughters; Linda (John A.) Bishop of Manahawkin, NJ, Patti Arter of Brick, NJ, and Concetta Arter of Port Saint Lucie, Fl. Also six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

At the request of the family, no services are planned at this time.
