Robert "Bobby" Lee Crimmins, 88, of Vero Beach died on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at the VNA Hospice House.
Mr. Crimmins was born August 13, 1924 in Louisville, KY. He had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1997, coming from Louisville, KY.
Bobby was a graduate of Male High School in Louisville, KY. During that time he was a team member of the All State Men's Softball team.
He was an avid sportsman. He played for the Baltimore Orioles for 4 years. In 1989 he was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame.
He was of the Catholic faith and was a former member of Our Lady of Lourdes in Louisville, KY and now attended St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian, FL.
He worked for the Fall City Liquor Company as a salesman for 20 years. Prior to his retirement he worked for the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department for 17 years.
Mr. Crimmins was a member of the Wildwood Country Club in Louisville, KY and the Vero Beach Country Club.
He was an active member of the city and state Democratic party.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Barbara Crimmins; son Robert Russell Crimmins of Houston, TX; daughters Janet (Bill) Steier of Louisville, KY and Jennifer (Joe) Love of Grandbury, TX; 7 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son John Bruce Crimmins, grandson William John Steier IV; and brothers Steve, John, Mike, Ted, Tommy and Bernie.
Services: A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
