Robert W. Green, 87, died peacefully in his home on April 21, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born in 1928 in Lapeer, Michigan, and lived in Spanish Lakes Country Club Village for the past 24 years.
He attended Central Michigan College, joined the U.S. Army in 1947, and served in the Japan Occupation Army.
His career as a store manager with the Kroger Company in Alpena, Michigan spanned 25 years. During that time, he also volunteered on the County Library Board, Child and Family Services, Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, and served as president of their boards. More recently, he was an active member of the choir at Community Church of Vero Beach, and a reading volunteer in the local public school system.
Survivors include his three daughters, Susan of Chapel Hill, NC, Cynthia of Pleasant Hope, MO, and Nancy of Bethesda, MD and five grandchildren, and a brother, William Wallace Green of Lapeer Michigan, as well as his dear friend Avis Erwin, of Ft. Pierce.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 57 years, Marjorie, and his second wife of five years, Joan.
The Memorial Service and celebration of his life will be held at Community Church of Vero Beach on June 21, 2016, at 2:00pm. Reception will follow. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Treasure Coast, Ft. Pierce, FL. Condolences can be expressed online at www.coxgiffordseawinds.com.
