Robert A. Hardy, 83 of Vero Beach, FL, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at VNA Hospice House.
Born on September 12, 1931 in New York, NY, he later moved to Chappaqua, NY. A graduate of Wesleyan University, in Middletown, CT, he began his 38 year career with IBM and wore many different hats, moving up the ladder from Sales to Branch Manager, and finally Coordinator of Strategic Planning for IBM customers.
He was very active in the Ski Program at Stratton Mountain, where he lived for many years and was instrumental in coordinating the World Cup Races there. As an FIS Technical Delegate, he officiated at many International Races in Europe, as well as the U.S. before retiring to Florida.
He enjoyed skiing with his children and grandchildren, many of whom became competitive racers. He was active as a Selectman in the Town of Stratton, as well as President of the Stratton Homeowner's Association, and a member of Orchid Island Golf and Beach Club since 1997.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Nancy Visser Hardy, seven sons and one daughter; Paul, Steve, Scott, Jeff, David, Kevin, Michael and Kim. Twenty eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren also survive.
There will be a private service in Vermont for the family at a later date.
