October 4, 1936 – September 7, 2021
Robert S Jiampetti, Sr, age 84, a resident of Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2021. Robert "Bob" was born in Egg Harbor City, NJ and graduated from Saint Joseph's High School in Hammonton, NJ in 1955. After high school he attended LaSalle College in Philadelphia, PA and later joined the United States Air Force, where he honorably served for nine years. While stationed at Plattsburgh AFB he met his wife of 61 years, Marlene Brugeon, the love of his life. During his military career, Bob served in various locations including Turkey and prior to its' statehood, Alaska. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Bob began a lengthy career with New York Telephone, retiring from NYNEX in 1993. After that, he established RSJ Consulting and worked with many telecommunication companies throughout the Northeast. Bob and Marlene's happiest times were spent watching their children participate in high school and college sports. They enjoyed traveling throughout the country, visiting various national parks and taking several trips to Asia and Europe. One of Bob's favorite pastimes was surf fishing in North Carolina and Florida. During their marriage, Bob and Marlene lived in New York, Texas, Hong Kong, North Carolina settling in Florida in 2015. Bob was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Elks Club in Plattsburgh, NY. He also served on many community boards.He is predeceased by his parents, Salvatore and Agnes Jiampetti, a brother, George and his wife, Ann, his sister, Kay Bruno and her husband, Charles. Bob is survived by his wife, Marlene, their four children, Robert Jr (Connie), Gina, Stephen (Stacey), Jeffrey (Christy), grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Montana, Liana, Olivia, Logan, Max, Dane, Georgia, Finley and step grandchildren, Jason, Julia, Emily and Michaela, who all adored their "Poppy". He is also survived by his brother, John (Carol) of Sedona, AZ.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Monday, September 13, 2021 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, FL. There will be a private viewing for family. A celebration of life will take place at a later date in Vero Beach. Burial will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY.The family is requesting donations be made in Bob's name to the Wounded Warriors Project, Tunnel To Towers Foundation or to a charity of one's choice.
