Robert Wayne Meyer, 69, of Melbourne passed away at Wuesthoff Hospital on Saturday, April 30, 2011 surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Meyer was born in Athens, Alabama on September 3, 1941 the son of James William and Francis McLaughlin Meyer. A 1961 graduate of Melboure High School, Wayne was also a local Melbourne businessman that served in the US Navy Sea-Bees in the late 1960s and was a Viet Nam veteran.
Wayne loved golf, trivia, family gatherings, and cooking for everyone. An avid University of Alabama football fan (Roll Tide), Wayne was the jokester of the family who always made us smile.
He is survived by one son, Michael; daughter-in-law Carla Meyer-Brandt; granddaughter Brittany Nicole Meyer; great grandchildren Brittany, James, and Kaitlyn and soon to be Makayla Cheyenne. Siblings include Billy Meyer (Bettie), Rockledge, Doug Meyer (Virginia), Palm Bay, Marty Stephens (Cecil), Melbourne, and Theresa Carpenter ( Charles), Colorado Springs, CO. He is predeceased by one grandson, Michael Shane Meyer. He is also survived by three nephews, two nieces and many great nephews and nieces. His newest love was a puppy named Farve.
A celebration of Waynes life will be held at 3 pm on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wuesthoff Hospice or the American Cancer Society in his memory.
