Robert Herbert Rollins, age 99 of Vero Beach, FL, died on January 31, 2013 at Indian River Medical Center. Born in Prince William County, Virginia on June 9, 1913, he had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1949 coming from Falls Church, Virginia. Mr. Rollins was in the Citrus and Ranching Industry in Indian River County.
He was a Charter Member of St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Frances Manor, and the Volunteer Ambulance Squad of Indian River County. Mr. Rollins was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, Economic Opportunity Council, and the Operation Play Ball of the Vero Beach Dodgers. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Betty of Vero Beach; 4 daughters, Gloria (Robert) Smith of Troutman, NC, Gwen Smith of Vero Beach, Gail (Charles) Shelton of McLean, VA, and Vicki (Robert) Alexander of Gowan, MI; step-daughter, Sharon (George) Glenn of Vero Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by an infant son, Robert Rollins, Jr. and a former wife, Mabel C. Rollins and 11 brothers and sisters. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 4, 2013 at St. Helen Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, Sunday, February 3, 2012 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home, 1950 20th Street, Vero Beach, Florida 32960.
