Robert Joseph Thaman, 89, of Vero Beach, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

Mr. Thaman was born May 25, 1924 in Covington, KY. He had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1989, coming from Kentucky.

Robert served as a P.F.C. in the United States Army during WWII. In Europe he fought in the invasion of Normandy, the Battle of the Bulge and the liberation of Auschwitz.

Prior to his retirement he worked as a truck driver for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife of over 30 years, Susan Thaman; son, Jeremi Thaman of Florida; daughters, Geraldine Bowder and Carol Ann Thaman both of South Carolina; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Thaman Jr.

A memorial service is planned in May of 2014 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY.
