It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert E. Williams on
August 1, 2024, at the age of 83 in Vero Beach, Florida.
Bob grew up in Western Springs, Illinois and attended Lyons Township High School.
He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1965 and was a member of
the Alpha Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After graduating from Miami
University, Bob proudly served in the US Navy from 1965 until 1969. After the
Navy, he lived in New York City and had a career at Chemical Bank before retiring to
Vero Beach, Florida where he was a dedicated caretaker and companion for his
mother until her passing.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents W. Owen Williams and Miriam E. Williams.
He is survived by his sister, Susan Williams Perry and her husband John W. Perry III
of Wayland, Massachusetts, nephew, John Perry of San Diego, California, niece Meagan Perry
Occhialini and her husband David Occhialini of Wellesley, Massachusetts  and his grandniece, Emma
Perry Occhialini, also of Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Bob will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful man who cared deeply for his family
and friends. He loved to travel, both to see his favorite people and explore new
places and cultures. This included trips to Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, California,
Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Vietnam, and China. Bob was fondly called
"Sporty" by his close friends, enjoyed skiing, running, and watching the games of
golf and tennis.
A private burial will be held with immediate family at Trinity Episcopal Church in
Vero Beach, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob's memory to
