IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rochelle Judith
Burger
June 16, 1948 – February 25, 2024
Rochelle (Shelly) Judith Burger, known for her radiant spirit and generous heart, 75, passed away on February 25, 2024. She lived an extraordinary life, filled with love, family, and friends, touching everyone she met with her kindness and humor.
Shelly was born in Port Chester, NY, the eldest daughter of Morris and Sylvia Hartstein. After graduating from Port Chester High School, she attended the University of Charleston where she met the love of her life, Tom. They spent 54 beautiful years together.
Shelly was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her family was her world, and she was happiest when surrounded by them. A kind, giving, and loyal friend, Shelly was also hilarious. Her sharp wit and contagious laughter will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Not one to shy away from conversation, she delighted in engaging with strangers, especially babies and dogs. An avid reader, Shelly could spend hours on the back patio lost in a book.
Tom's career took them from New York to Florida, then to Texas. Once Tom retired, they moved back to Florida to spend their golden years in the sun. Together Shelly and Tom traveled the world, but the Amalfi coast held a special place in their hearts.
Shelly is survived by her loving husband Tom, their three wonderful children, Leslie Newman, Dana Best and Matthew Burger. She was absolutely adored by her twelve grandchildren, Kyle, Jaden, Kimberly, Matthew, Devyn, James, Bryce, Chayse, Kain, John, Blaze and Sebastian.
Shelly's legacy of laughter, love, and kindness will forever echo in the lives of those she touched, a lasting tribute to a life beautifully lived.
In memory of Shelly's generous spirit, donations are encouraged to the National PKU Alliance ( npkua.org ), a cause close to her heart.
