Roland A. Achorn, 71, of Vero Beach, FL died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce.
Mr. Achorn was born May 21, 1938 in Rockland, ME and moved to Vero Beach 23 years ago from his place of birth.
He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Yeoman and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Mr. Achorn had been a chef at Indian River Estates in Vero Beach for 15 years and was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and Kings Baptist Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Rose Achorn of Vero Beach, son Roland A. Achorn, III of Vero Beach, daughter Coral Mae Van Valkenburg of Vero Beach, son Roger Achorn of Rockland, ME, sister Kathleen Rellias of Vero Beach, brothers George Achorn of Chepachet, RI, Robert Achorn of Pensacola, FL, Randel Achorn of Ft. Mills, SC and David Achorn of Rockland, ME, sister Peggy King of Sebastian, FL and two grandchildren.
Services: A memorial service will take place 2 PM Friday, March 12, 2010 at Kings Baptist Church in Vero Beach with military honors by VFW Post 3918.
