Roland A. Winter, 87, died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Consulate Health Care in Vero Beach.

Mr. Winter was born June 6, 1924 in Perth Amboy, NJ to Kaye and Theodore Winter and lived and was schooled there. He was a PAHS Grad of 1941.

He entered WWII in 1947 as a machine gunner in the 77th Infantry Division, 307th Regiment Co. L, 3rd Battalion. He earned battle stars for Guam, Leyte, Ie Shima, Kerama, Retto and Okinaw. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, Philippines Liberation Medal and Victory Medal. Roland did occupation duty in Hokkaido, Japan. He was discharged in January 1947.

After his military duty he resumed his education at Rutgers University and Rutgers Law. He received his BA in 1948 and his DL in 1950. He was admitted to the New Jersey State and Federal Bar in 1951.

He served as a municipal court judge from 1958 to 1967 and a municipal court attorney from 1958-1977 in Edison Township. Later he served as a State of New Jersey Administrative Law Judge from 1994 to 1998.

Survivors include wife of 27 years, Carolyn; son, Tod Winter of Florida; daughters, Timmie Feinsmith of Cherry Hill, NJ, Susan Antonelos of Old Bridge, NJ, Kimberly Decker of Westfield, NJ; and five grandchildren, Kailey, Patrick, David, Alyssa and Julia.

A celebration of life will take place at Riverwind Club house Gate # 9853 on Monday, February 20, 2012 from 5-8pm.
