Russell Raymond Galasso, 85, of Vero Beach, died Sunday July 30th with his family present.

He was born to the late Raymond and Louise Galasso on December 24, 1931 in NYC, NY. He graduated from Bayside High School where he met his soulmate and love of his life, the late Joan Galasso. He continued his education at Hofstra University and the University of Delaware.

He served in the Army for 2 years rising to the rank of Captain. He then went on to a successful career in Nuclear Physics. He married Joan in 1953 in NYC and they had 56 wonderful years together. They were inseparable. They lived in Bel Air and raised 4 children for 33 years. They then retired to Vero Beach in 1989. He lived there for 28 years.

Russell is survived by his daughters, Linda (Douglas) Peters of Livermore, CA and Kathy(Michael) Powell of Bel Air, MD and sons, John (Evie) Galasso of St. Helena, CA and Danny (Jenny) Galasso of Tijeras, NM. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel, Kenny, Jacqui, Jen, Jill, Kylie, Maizy & Natalie, and also great grandchildren, Joanna & Gavin. He also is survived by many dear friends, whom he loved and treasured.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 3rd at 5 pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
