Russell (Bud) Jones
Melbourne, Florida
Russ was born July 14, 1943 in Melbourne, Fl. He went to be with the Lord on February 19 after a heroic three year battle with cancer. He was surrounded by those he loved and who loved him.
He was of great heart, gave the best and deserved the best. Throughout his devastating illness, he daily affirmed all the good in his life including his devoted mother and best friend, Isabelle Jones, much loved wife, Janice Thompson Jones beloved sisters Julia Johnson and Mary Alice Poole (George) and adored sister Arlene Jones.
He is also survived by his sons Edwin Russell Jones (Betty) and Paul Raymond Jones (Erin) and two granddaughters Isaiah and Paulina Jones of Brevard, NC
Russ was preceded in death by his father Curtis Jones and his revered Granny. Russ was a life long resident of Eau Gallie.
His love and knowledge of Old Eau Gallie is legendary.
Russ graduated from Melbourne High School in 1961. He went to work for OTIS Elevator at Cape Canaveral. He was drafted and served honorably in the US Army Nuclear Power Program from 1965 to 1968. Upon discharge he returned to OTIS and retired after 39 years.
Anyone who knew Russ knew he was honest, humble, and benevolent. His zest for life was extraordinary. He loved flying, bicycles, motor cycles and fast cars.
Everyday he lived his life to the fullest and touched many lives along the journey.
It never mattered to Russell where person had been. He cared only about where they were going, Russell will be missed as he was loved greatly.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliances (NCCRA) in care of the Space Coast Credit Union.
