Ruth E. Kmita, 92, of Village Green, Vero Beach, FL died August 15, 2009, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach after a short illness..
Mrs. Kmita was born and raised in Saugus, MA and moved to Vero Beach in 1981 from Longwood, FL.
Mrs. Kmita founded the Village Green Kitchen Band and played piano for various nursing homes and functions in the area. She was a member of the theater guild and was active in the Asbury United Methodist Church of Vero Beach.
Survivors include her daughters Patricia Kmita of Vero Beach and Judith Mullin of Ocala, FL and Waterboro, ME; grandchildren Kerry Shea of Burlington, MA, Diane Hutchinson of Westford, MA, and Carolyn Chungu of Derry, NH; great-grandchildren Aiden, Cate, Norah, Anna, Noah and baby Maren; sister Ethelyn Berry of Vero Beach and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kmita was predeceased by her husband Chesley Kmita and their son Michael.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church, 1708 43rd Avenue Vero Beach, Florida 32960 or the Humane Society of Vero Beach, PO Box 644, Vero Beach, Florida 32961.
Services: A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Asbury United Methodist Church. Interment will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Saugus, MA. At the familys request there will be no repose or visitation.
