Ruth Evelyn Schaefer's Obituary
Ruth Evelyn Schaefer, 98, of Vero Beach, FL died June 8, 2017.
Born to Joseph and Alice S. Rideout of Brewer, ME. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Newton Wellesley School of Nursing and was immediately inducted into the Army Nurse Corp during WWII, as First Lieutenant, having served in the United States, Iran and India.
She married Howard C. Schaefer in 1946 and they lived in Meriden, CT for forty years before retiring to Vero Beach, FL in 1985.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, a sister and a brother. She leaves a sister, Martha Aldrich of Kalamazoo, MI; son, Howard C. (Karen) Schaefer Jr. of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; daughter, Nancy (Carl) Seadale of Barrington, RI; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Shelly Satran presiding.
Donations may be made in her honor to the American Heart Association, Greater Southeast Affiliate, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692
