Obituary

Ruth Margaret Wagner, 92, of Vero Beach, FL, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mrs. Wagner was born December 4, 1916 in Columbus, OH and moved to Vero Beach in 1952 from her birth place.
In 1938 she graduated from Ohio State University. Professionally, she was primarily a teacher, of music, math, Kindergarten and a substitute for Indian River County School district. In her later years, she served as a field director for the Heart of Florida Girl Scouts of America.
Her love for the Girl Scout organization was evident in her volunteer work, first as a leader for her childrens troop and later a trainer of adult leaders. She was awarded the Thanks badge, the highest award presented to adult volunteers in the GSA.
Survivors include her husband of almost 69 years, William (Bill) E. Wagner of Vero Beach; daughters Ruth A. Jacobs, Carolyn Edsall Toohey both of them of Vero Beach; sons Dr. Don Wagner of Vero Beach, David W. Wagner of Fountain Valley, CA, Dick Wagner of Helen, GA; daughter Nancy Wagner of Hollywood, FL; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother Robert Lerch.
Services: A life celebration will take place at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Community Church. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial in Fort Pierce, FL.
