Sally Ann Powers Thomson, 70, died April 19 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
She was born in Lyons, NY on April 6, 1940 to Fremont and Sallie Powers and was the second of six daughters. She lived in Scotia, New York before moving to Vero Beach where she and her husband made their home in Vista Gardens.
Mrs. Thomson was a 1959 graduate of Watertown High School, Watertown New York, attended Springfield College and was a teacher at Brown School, Schenectady, New York until her retirement. She was a member of the Board of Directors at Vista Gardens.
She is survived by Theodore (Teddy) and Patricia Thomson, Daniel and Laura Thomson of Scotia, New York, four grandchildren that where near and dear to her heart Bonnie and John Lifite of Georgia, Bethany Thomson of Tampa, Florida; and DJ Thomson serving in the US Navy; five sisters: Cornelia Courtney of South Hampton New Hampshire, Donna Barber of Watertown, New York, Jean Crenshaw of Monmouth, New Jersey, Corrine Barker of Central Square, New York and Susan Washburn of Henderson Harbor; and a large and loving extended family.
She was preceded in death by her son Thomas Thomson and her beloved husband of 50 years, Theodore Thomson.
Memorial Contributions: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Special Olympics Chapter of your choice in memory of Thomas Thomson.
Services: A celebration of her life will be held at the Vista Gardens Club House 1:30 PM, Thursday, April 22, 2010. Burial will be held at a later date in Memory Gardens, Albany, New York.
