Sheila V. Mackenzie, 91, of Vero Beach, FL died Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
Mrs. Mackenzie was born November 20, 1918 in Cairo, Egypt. She and her husband moved to Vero Beach in the early 1970s from Greenwich, Connecticut.
She came to the United States in1947 after working for the British government during World War II and subsequently became an American citizen. She taught French in schools for several years in Los Angeles and in Connecticut and in retirement moved to Florida and her home in Vero Beach. Following her husband, Kenneth Mackenzie, in 1985, following which she began a 20 year commitment as a volunteer with the Indian River Memorial Hospital.
Services: The family will receive friends 4 - 7 PM, Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A private graveside service will be held at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
