Obituary

Shelby Jones, age 86, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Raulerson Hospital. He had been a resident of Okeechobee for 26 years.
During WWII he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army building pontoon bridges on the European continent to enable the advancement of troops. He greatly enjoyed fishing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Burnis, Carl, Dale, Dennis and Curtis; sister, Mary Helen Daugherty and a granddaughter, Courtney Black.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Gwen; sons, Shelby Dwight (Molly) Jones of Utica, Ohio, Jeremy (Merri) Jones of Okeechobee; daughters, Sheila (Dale) Morris of Pataskala, Ken.,Patricia Black of Katy, Tex., Kathy Verelli of Chicago, Ill.; sisters, Fostella (Carl) Mitchell of Grethel, Ken., Clara Hamilton of Columbus, Ohio, Jeanette (Tony) Trott of Columbus, Ohio, Roxann Bentley of Grethel, Ken.; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 9:00 am, Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Buxton-Seawinds Chapel at Abundant Blessings Church.
